Anne Goldman was born in Philadelphia and spent her growing up years in Montana, Minnesota, and Massachusetts. She is the author of the essay collection Stargazing in the Atomic Age (University of Georgia Press), named a Best Book of 2021 by Kirkus Reviews and awarded a silver medal in the essay category of the Independent Publisher Book Awards in 2022. She has also published several critical books. Among them is Take My Word, which honors unsung working women of the twentieth-century who invented new forms of memoir writing to bring their stories into being. 

Goldman’s short stories and essays have appeared in Tin House, the Guardian, the Georgia Review, the Los Angeles Review of Books, VOLT, Fourth Genre, The Gettysburg Review, Southwest Review, and elsewhere. Her essays are frequently cited as notable in editions of the Best American Essays as well as in the Best American Science and Nature Writing and the Best American Travel Writing. She is finishing up work on her second book of creative nonfiction, Aria for Insects and Other Essays.

After living for many years in California, Goldman now makes her home in Concord, Massachusetts.
